Until now, Jim Peterik has been known for his successful musical collaborations, but after a chance meeting with artist Cathee Clausen at a Chicago art show, an altogether new collaboration was born. Just as Jim and his wife, Karen were swept away by Cat’s paintings, Cat revealed that she often creates to music and was in fact, a big fan of Jim’s bands: The Ides of March and Survivor. On the spot Jim commissioned a custom-painted Fender Telecaster to be designed around his mega-hit song, “Eye of the Tiger”. Cat produced a brilliant design in turquoise and golden yellow with a tiger’s eye on the headstock and a tasteful nude on the back. With 8 layers of clear-coat, the image was protected from the rigors of the stage and Jim started playing it at his live shows in 2007. The public response has been overwhelming: “Where can we get these guitars?” As the concept took shape, Cat and Jim decided that they would form an artist/rock-star alliance using only the highest quality guitars- ones that Jim would be proud to play on stage. He would also provide the rock guitarist’s style sense and make use of his wide-ranging contacts in the guitar collector/dealer world. After a suitable guitar is procured and concepts and sketches are agreed upon, Cat would apply her singularly unique painting style to create vividly-colored, bold organic images. Just like her portraits, prints and paintings that hang in the galleries and collections of prominent personalities, these one of a kind creations will soon grace the stages and collections of music aficionados everywhere. Is the Cat-Peterik Art Guitar to be considered a highly valued piece of functional art or a guitar collector/player’s favorite art guitar? Well, we’ll leave this to the discretion of the owner. You
